2026-w01 Temperature
This is an amalgamation of 2025 Week 52 and 2026 Week 01. Sorta reflects the nature of my Christmas period if I am honest!
The word that sums up this week is: temperature. It’s been cold (even a little snowy) outside, but toasty inside with the fire 🔥; also one of my kids had a high temperature which led to a bit of a scare (was ok). (Last week’s word was ‘coughing’, sadly! A top moment for me was taking the family on a day trip to a big city for the first time: the kids loved it ❤️. Something I’m looking forward to next week is starting Wheel of Time Book 7.
Headlines
Understanding. Some planner habit tips from Rachelle in Theory; a whole system of task management called P1.Express. I believe I got wind of this from Spasic on Bearblog, so thanks for that 🙂! I can see this integrating really well with my review cycles: adding a bit of structure and more.
Revising for the Life in the UK test 🇬🇧. Some reflection today with my sponsor about recurring anxieties I face in my stressful project. I observe having to repeat to myself: “I am not alone, I don’t have to solve it all”, and “I’ll be ok, regardless if we hit the deadline”. I think these relate to some ‘inner-vows’ I carry from my past 🤔: something I have had to dig into through recovery. I think I have objectively learned the counter-narratives for the stressful project but as my sponsor suggested: my body hasn’t caught up.
Creating & cultivating. A task system as above! Also, some cassette mixtapes: Jars of Clay and Blue Turtle. Very frustrating attempts at basic electrical DIY and a steel splashback 😖. Making a shift to Obsidian from TickTick for managing tasks ☑️ where each task is a single markdown file following the P1.Express system.
Consuming. A tonne of sugar, of course 🎄: including shed load of stollen, and marzipan in general. Paracetamol 😕. Southern Comfort.
Connecting. Some good time with my extended family, though I was ill. Nice to see my 1 yr old nephew. I taught the kids the game Bang!. We had a fun time 🙂. Also dance party after dinner yesterday to some random J Pop.
