2026-w14 interruptions
The word that sums up this week is: interruptions: I found it difficult at work to focus or process important things as there is just so much volume coming my way. I realised I am lurching from one interruption to another! A top moment for me was, oddly, doing some manual labour on the weekend shifting a load of soil and gravel. I am trying to finish off a path and area for the bins around the side of the house.
Something Iām looking forward to next week is having a couple days off work to hang out with my kids.
Headlines
April w/c 2026-03-30
Understanding. Some reading around blogs and whatnot about āmanagement by interruptionā. I.e. help! I think itās deeper than the typical advice given for personal time management e.g. blocking, task batching, focus techniques, delegate and the like. Itās more about how to sift through the deluge (to mix metaphors) that comes my way leading a multi-dis team.
Creating & cultivating. I finished my whole OBTF thing, and Iām really pleased with the setup. Making the gravel path, as above, involving mending a broken pipe that I put my shovel through!
Consuming. A lot of mini chocolate eggs and nests. Plus some excellent IPA and a load of Obsidian themes (currently loving āRedshift OLED blue light filterā).
Connecting. My sister-in-law visiting for a couple days went ok. We had a good family trip to visit a cousin-in-law which was good fun. We have a lot of similar interests so it was cool to chat.

For my future self: I need to be in control --> I need to lead with presence and clarity
