2026-w19 resilience
The word that sums up this week is: resilience. A top moment for me was taking the weekend a bit easier (as it is a bank holiday) and spending time together as a family. Something I’m looking forward to next week is using up some time in lieu.

Understanding. Again, how easy it can be to slip back as a recovering addict. Seemed to come along suddenly, but of course in hindsight I’d been ignoring some of the signs. A biggy for me at the moment is that employment-work has taken over a bit. Bad day, but I need to get up and keep going: one day at a time!
Creating & cultivating. Trying to cultivate a better habit around taking breaks. A new commitment this coming month to take a full lunch break every day. Trying to come up with a paint scheme for my son’s bedroom that is like a spaceship and has elements of Cassette Futurism.
Consuming. Root beer floats with the kids :-) I loved introducing a tradition. We also went out for mocktails on the weekend. They were super sugary and decorative: I can still picture my six-year-old quivering with excitement! Also practically drinking in the citrus blossom scent in our living room. I’ve also been off and on with Wheel of Time 9, but sorta back into it.
Connecting. Family meal out as above plus a sunny bike ride. I also took my project team out for a lunch. I was worried about morale so a lunch treat plus some silly awards I created (e.g. for the team with the most emails) helped us let our hair time. On Sunday we cracked out Settlers of Catan for the first time as a family: we’ve now played 4 times in two days :-O!
Pen & ink combo: Pilot Preppy (eyedroppered) with 🟧 KWZ Grapefruit.
For my future self. “screw-em”
