The word that sums up this week is: YouTube. A top moment for me was hanging out with my brother and some guys at a Mexican restaurant. Something I’m looking forward to next week is having a slower Monday morning (the office is shut).

February w/c 2026-02-16
Understanding. Watching some lengthy interviews on YouTube with Cory Doctorow on enshittification and then some with a critical look at AI was enlightening, entertaining, and depressing. A reminder to take a breath and remind myself that I can figure it out eventually … avoiding dwelling on the discomfort of the moment. (Yes, a DIY puzzle this weekend).
Creating & cultivating. Said DIY puzzle: hanging a mirror with limited fixings on a stud wall with an off-centre stud. Had fun getting both my 35 mm cameras out this weekend. Finally some sun! For a bit anyway.
Consuming. Loads of earl grey tea. Still wrestling with what I have to admit is a sugar addiction. Also YouTube. It’s rubbish now (see above) but I just. can’t. stop. Having a book or magazine on the go helps a lot; but it’s hard to fill that 10 min free time slot without s c r e e n s ! I’m like Gollum.
Connecting. Great meal out on the Friday. Rare for me to go all in with drink, starter, main, desert so loved it. Time with the in-laws was ok, though fairly superficial. Still it was nice to see all the little cousins play around.
